Case Study 5 - Swimming Pools

Geothermal systems offer a cost effective solution of heating swimming pools, new or existing, inside or out side, we can design a system to suit your requirements.

The geothermal system is simply connected to the pool water by fitting a by-pass arrangement after the pool filter with a percentage of pool water passing over a tubular heat exchanger.

We would size the heat pump to run over the economy 7 tariff for further energy savings.

For an estimate quotation we require the following information:

Dimensions LxWxD

Is the pool internal or external?

Temperature required in the pool (normally 28oc – 30oc)

Has the pool got a cover?

As the majority of heat loss from a pool is through evaporation fitting a good quality thermal cover to the pool will significantly reduce the cost of heating to the swimming pool.

We would also recommend that the pool has good insulation between the pool structure and the ground around it, as the ground temperature is roughly 10oc the heat from the pool could easily be wasted by transferring back to the ground.
